The young soprano Tamara Ivaniš recently had great success as Tamiris in Mozart’s “Il re pastore” at the Salzburg Mozarteum under Christina Pluhar on the rostrum of the Ensemble Arpeggiata. Rolando Villazon had re-engaged her for this role after a first successful collaboration in his new concert format “Sofa Concerts” with works by Donizetti and Mozart. In 2021, she performed as Blondchen in Mozart’s “The Abduction from the Seraglio,” at the Austrian festival Oper Burg Gars in 2021.
From 2018 to 2020, the young singer was an ensemble member of the Landestheater Salzburg and performed, among other roles, in the female lead in Rossini’s “La Gazzetta”. She had already spent two years in the Gerard Mortier Opera Studio of the Salzburg Landestheater, singing roles such as Taumännchen (“Hansel and Gretel”), Ilia (“Idomeneo”). “Olympia” in “The Tales of Hoffmann” and the Spring Voice Waltz at the New Year’s Eve Concert under Massimo Zanetti at the Großes Festspielhaus in Salzburg. In 2019, she made a guest appearance as Frau Silberklang in Mozart’s “Der Schauspieldirektor” in a production of the Opera Studio of the Stuttgart State Opera.
In 2015, Tamara Ivaniš had made her debut as Flaminia in Haydn’s opera “Il Mondo della luna” at the Salzburg Landestheater under the musical direction of Mirga Gražinyté-Tyla. In the same year, she sang the role of Blonde in “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” for the first time at the Summer Serenades Graz.
In 2014-16, while still a student, the young soprano made her successful role debut as the Queen of the Night in the opera “The Magic Flute” by W.A.Mozart in a production of the Marionette Theater Schloss Schönbrunn. Furthermore, in the same year she completed a master class with Ioan Holender and was invited to record the aria “Chi il bel Sogno” from the opera “La Rondine” by G. Puccini for the film “Superwelt” by Karl Markovics.
As part of isaOperaVienna 2012, the young soprano, only eighteen years old, celebrated her Vienna opera debut at the historic Schönbrunn Palace Theater, as Barbarina in the opera “Le nozze di Figaro” by W.A.Mozart. In 2014, she was heard there as Zerlina in the opera “Don Giovanni” by W.A. Mozart. In university productions, she also embodied the role of Pimpinella in the ballet opera “Pulcinella” by Igor Stravinsky and at the Schönbrunn Palace Theater the role of Lauretta in the opera “Gianni Schicchi” by G. Puccini.
Tamara Ivaniš already sang the role of Lucy in the baroque opera “The Beggars opera” by J. Gay at the National Theater Varaždin in 2011. A year later she was re-invited there for the role of Cupid in the opera “Venus and Adonis” by J. Blow.
The young soprano is a laureate of several international competitions: in 2009 she won the 1st prize at the State Competition in Dubrovnik. In 2010 followed another 1st prize and the jury prize at the 12th International Competition “Iuventus canti” in Vrable/Slovakia. In 2013 she was a finalist of the 1st International Otto Edelmann Singing Competition in Vienna. In 2014 she was a multiple prize winner at the international Ferruccio Tagliavini Competition in Deutschlandsberg and as an accomplished song interpreter she was a finalist at the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach am Wörther See. In 2015 she won the 3rd overall prize and several special prizes at the international Hilde Zadek Competition and the 1st prize at the Nico Dostal Singing Competition in Vienna.
Born in Croatia, Tamara Ivaniš began her vocal studies at the age of 17 at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, which she completed in summer 2016 under Professor Karlheinz Hanser. Tamara is currently also completing her Master’s degree in Lied and Oratorio at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Christoph Strehl and Stephan Genz.
