Culture knows no boundaries: Orchestral lieder by Steen Pade and “Lied von der Erde” by Mahler in Sønderborg and Flensburg

In a region that, across the centuries, was repeatedly claimed (and fought over) by Denmark and Germany, the annual cooperative concert of the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Sinfonieorchester from Flensburg and the Sønderjylland Symphony Orchestra from Sønderborg is an important symbol and more: Once a year, the two orchestras organize a concert for which they rehearse together, to then present it in both their hometowns.

This year the choice fell on Steen Pade’s Orchestral lieder for baritone and Gustav Mahler’s “Lied von der Erde”; Johannes Wildner will be conducting, with the baritone Christoph Filler as the soloist for Pade.
The “Lied von der Erde” is sung by Nora Sourouzian (mezzo-soprano) and Algirdas Drevinskas (tenor).
