Austrian soprano Corina Koller has been a member of the Graz Opera ensemble since 2023. In the upcoming season, she will make her role debut there as Mimi in La Bohème and will also return to the stage as Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte.
In recent years, in addition to her highly successful role debut as Fiordiligi in Graz, she has also appeared as the Head Butcher’s Wife in The Knight of the Rose, as Lusya in Moscow, Cheryomushka by Dmitri Shostakovich, as Princess Elisabeth in The World Is Beautiful by Franz Lehár, as Minka in Anton Förster’s rare opera The Nightingale of Gorenjska, and as Princess Jadja Milewska-Palotay in Venus in Silk by Robert Stolz. In the summer of 2025, she won over audiences and critics alike as Blanka in Franz Lehár’s The Blue Mazurka at the Lehár Festival in Bad Ischl, where she has been a regular guest since 2023. In 2023–24, she made a guest appearance as Rosalinde in Johann Strauss’s The Bat at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt.
In previous years, Corina Koller had already drawn attention to herself as a member of the Graz Opera Studio, performing the title role in Nico Dostal’s operetta Clivia and as Wellgunde and Gerhilde in Loriot’s Der Ring an einem Abend.
In her role debut as Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen at the Burg Gars Opera in 2022, she was hailed by the press as the discovery of the evening. She gained extensive operetta experience in roles such as Rosalinde in The Bat, Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow, and Sylva Varescu in The Csárdás Princess. At the Tyrolean Festival in 2021, she appeared as Elsa in the family concert Lohengrin—The Mysterious Swan Knight, and at Next Liberty in Graz, she took the stage as Maria Bellacanta in Peter Lund’s Hexe Hillary geht in die Oper. As part of the Steirischer Herbst festival, she gained experience in contemporary music theater and sang in the world premieres of Consumnia by Sehyung Kim and the performance L’Opra Fatale by Lulu Obermayer and Alexandra Holtsch.
During her studies, she appeared in Henry Purcell’s King Arthur, Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, Kurt Weill’s The Silver Lake, Ralph Benatzky’s The White Horse Inn, and Otto Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor as Frau Fluth. As a sought-after concert singer, she has appeared several times at the Stefaniensaal in Graz, including in Georg Friedrich Haas’s 7 Klangräume based on the unfinished fragments of W. A. Mozart’s Requiem, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s Lobgesang, and most recently as the soprano soloist in Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 4.
The young singer has collaborated with conductors such as Christoph Altstaedt, Matteo Beltrami, Sascha Goetzl, Dirk Kaftan, Roland Kluttig, Marcus Merkel, Johannes Wildner, and Bomseok Yi, as well as directors such as Frank Hilbrich, Oliver Tambosi, and Dominik Wilgenbus. She is the 2019 Bayreuth Fellow and a prize winner at numerous competitions, including Elīna Garanča’s “Zukunftsstimmen,” the Johannes Brahms Competition, the Otto Edelmann Competition, the Ferruccio Tagliavini Competition, the Nico Dostal Competition, and the Heinrich Strecker Competition.
Corina Koller began her artistic training in classical ballet, piano, and voice at the Leoben Music School. She earned a Master of Arts degree in art history from the Karl-Franzens University of Graz and completed her master’s degree in voice at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz with honors.
The soprano attended master classes with Dame Emma Kirkby, Gabriele Lechner, Linda Watson, Romualdo Savastano, and Cheryl Studer, and was a Bayreuth scholarship recipient of the Wagner Forum Graz.
