Philipp Kapeller in Martinů’s Greek Passion in Hanover

Following Echo 72, an opera about the terrorist attack on the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich in which eleven Israeli athletes were murdered, the Staatsoper Hannover addresses themes of humanity, compassion, and kindness against the backdrop of new arrivals of refugees with Martinů’s Greek Passion. The Austrian tenor Philipp Kapeller can be seen in this magnificent and haunting 20th-century opera in the role of the shepherd boy Nikolios.
