The Austrian soprano Ilia Staple has been a member of the ensemble at the Vienna State Opera since 2024. After roles such as Esmeralda in The Bartered Bride and one of the Flowermaidens in Parsifal, this season will see her on stage as Frasquita in Georges Bizet’s Carmen and Papagena in Mozart’s The Magic Flute. In the coming season, Viennese audiences will enjoy her coloratura soprano, among other roles, as Tebaldo in Verdi’s Don Carlo, as Blonde in Mozart’s The Abduction from the Seraglio, and in the title role of Alban Berg’s Lulu.
