The Spanish tenor Oscar Marin was discovered by Montserrat Caballé. In 2021, he made his debut as Radames in Verdi’s ‘Aida’ at the Slovenian National Theatre in Maribor. In 2022, he returned to Oper Burg Gars as Don José in Georges Bizet’s ‘Carmen’, where he had first appeared in the title role in Verdi’s ‘Don Carlo’ in 2015. He was invited back there in 2016 as Cassio in ‘Otello’ and in 2018 as Cavaradossi in Puccini’s ‘Tosca’.
In the recent past, Oscar Marín has performed with the star soprano Hui He in China and in Verdi gala concerts in Germany and made his debut at the Royal Opera in Copenhagen in ‘La Fanciulla del West’. He made his first guest appearance at the Festival MusicaMallorca in his native city of Palma de Mallorca and gave numerous concerts in Germany, where he sang Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Requiem, among others. In 2015, he was heard as Canio in ‘I Pagliacci’ in Alicante.
Numerous concerts with Montserrat Caballé and later with singers such as Lucia Aliberti, Karan Armstrong, Agnes Baltsa and Sergei Larin have taken him to venues including the Royal Albert Hall and St John’s Smith Square in London. John’s Smith Square in London, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, the Musikhalle Hamburg, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Liederhalle Stuttgart, the Kölner Philharmonie, St Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, the Prague State Opera, the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, the Auditorium Giuseppe Sinopoli in Rome, Vicenza, Verona, Florence, Treviso, Como, Mantua and Turin.
Oscar Marin has also been invited to a number of international festivals such as the XV Festival Internacional de Peralada, the Festival de Música y danza de Alicante, the Euro-mediterranean Festival Ostia Antica, the Wörthersee-Festival in Klagenfurt, the Flâneries Musicales d’Été Reims, the Festival Piano en Valois Angoulême, the Nuits d’Encens Aigues-Mortes, the Spring Festival Moscow and the International UNESCO Festival Moscow.
He has performed with important orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London, the Orchestra of the NDR Hanover, the Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra Regionale di Roma e del Lazio, the Philharmonic Orchestra Moscow and the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra.
Among the conductors with whom Oscar Marin worked were José Collado, António Guadagno, Vytautas Lukočius, Miguel Ortega, Igor Malinovski. Roberto Paternostro, Christian Thielemann and Johannes Wildner.
The Spanish tenor was a regular guest on German television (including ZDF, ARTE Stars von morgen, with soprano Eva Lind). He made his operatic debut in 2003 in the opera ‘Marie Magdeleine’ by Jules Massenet at the Classical Easter Festival in Rome with the Orchestra di Roma e del Lazio.
Together with Monserrat Caballé, he also recorded the duet ‘St. Sulpice’ from the opera ‘Manon’ by Jules Massenet for her album ‘Mir klingt ein Lied’ (BMG Classics) and took part in the documentary film about the life of Montserrat Caballé ‘Caballé Beyond Music’.
Montserrat Caballé worked intensively on his vocal training. Later he also worked with Francesca Roig, Giovanna di Rocco, Cynthia Sanner, Giacomo Aragall, Enrique Baquerizo, Carlos Chausson and Raúl Giménez.
