With the operetta Eine Frau von Format (A Woman of Character), composer Michael Krasznay-Krausz—who studied under Zoltán Kodály—achieved a sensational success at the Theater des Westens in Berlin in 1927. The work turns gender stereotypes and cultural prejudices upside down and playfully subverts them. Not long after its premiere, the work disappeared in the turmoil of dictatorship and Second World War. Now, it returns to the stage at the Cologne Opera; alongside Annette Dasch, who surprises audiences as the Turkish ambassador, Austrian baritone Wolfgang Stefan Schwaiger takes on the role of the Hungarian ambassador, Count Géza von Tököli.
