Following his acclaimed performance as Taddeo at the première of Rossini’s “L’italiana in Algeri” at the Landestheater Innsbruck, Wolfgang Stefan Schwaiger returns to the stage of his artistic home, the Oper Köln. As the Mule Owner, his actions drive the second half of Carl Orff’s opera “Die Kluge”, told by Brigitta Gillessen (staging) and theatre designer Christof Cremer as a parable on power and its abuse, on justice and injustice, on poverty and wealth — but always with wit, humor, and a love for detail.
