Oliver Sailer in Bach’s St John Passion and in Madama Butterfly

The young Tyrolean bass Oliver Sailer received his first musical training with the Wiltener Sängerknaben. A fine tradition of this boys’ choir is to invite former members who later pursue a professional singing career to appear as soloists in its concerts. This time, Oliver Sailer performs as Jesus and as the singer of the bass aria “Eilt, ihr angefochtnen Seelen” (“Hasten, ye troubled souls”) in Johann Sebastian Bach’s St John Passion at Wilten Basilica.

As a member of the ensemble of the Tiroler Landestheater, Oliver Sailer then appears on stage in the roles of Yakusidé and the Imperial Commissioner in Giacomo Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. This production is directed by Jasmina Hadžiahmetović, with Enrico Calesso conducting.
