Austrian bass-baritone Matthias Hoffmann, recently on stage as Achilla in Handel’s “Giulio Cesare in Egitto” and as Speaker of the Temple and Papageno in Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” at the Oper Köln, will be performing as Commissario imperiale in Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” at the Bregenz Festival. Beginning with the coming season, he will be working as a freelancer; among other roles, he will be on stage from December in the family opera “Wo die wilden Kerle wohnen” at the Theater an der Wien.
