Just ahead of the first wave of COVID-19-related lockdowns, Italian tenor Matteo Macchioni was still on stage in Copenhagen, as Ferrando in “Così fan tutte”. Two years later, he finally is able to return here, to Den Kongelige Opera; and he does so to sing one of his signature parts, a part that he has sung in Florence, in Leipzig, at the Welsh National Opera, and really on every stage where the audience loves a stellar Rossini tenor: Don Ramiro in Rossini’s “La Cenerentola”.
