Just before he and the Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra travel to Japan for their first traditional New Years’ concert tour after the COVID-19 interruption, Austrian conductor Johannes Wildner steps onto the rostrum of the Ljubljana Opera for the festive New Year’s Eve gala; the programme promises an entertaining mix of waltzes and polkas and such, combined with arias from serious works like “Rusalka” and “Eugene Onegin”.
