Corina Koller, Wolfgang Resch, and Thomas Lichtenecker with Carmina Austriaca and Carmina Burana

For many, Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana”, premiered in 1937, served and serve as an introduction to classical music. As a counterpart, writer Michael Korth and composer Gerald Wirth have taken Austria’s medieval love songs out of obscurity: The “Carmina Austriaca” — an awe-inspiring musical journey into medieval Austria — will be premiered in Gars in their new version for percussion and two pianos.

Soprano Corina Koller, baritone Wolfgang Resch, both well-known in Gars from the productions of “Carmen” and “The Magic Flute,” and countertenor Thomas Lichtenecker will perform as soloists.
