For many, Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana”, premiered in 1937, served and serve as an introduction to classical music. As a counterpart, writer Michael Korth and composer Gerald Wirth have taken Austria’s medieval love songs out of obscurity: The “Carmina Austriaca” — an awe-inspiring musical journey into medieval Austria — will be premiered in Gars in their new version for percussion and two pianos. Soprano Corina Koller, baritone Wolfgang Resch, both well-known in Gars from the productions of “Carmen” and “The Magic Flute,” and countertenor Thomas Lichtenecker will perform as soloists.
