Contemporary Opera: Fabrice di Falco sings Philip Glass’ Akhnaten

Back in 2020, countertenor Fabrice di Falco and his public had to make do without the directness and the energy of performing for a live audience. Now, finally, the new production of Philip Glass’ “Akhnaten”, staged by Lucinda Childs and conducted by Léo Warynski, has its live première at the Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur. Fabrice di Falco makes the great pharaoh, who attempted to convert his empire to an early monotheism, come alive on stage, from the young ruler’s ascension to the throne to his (ahistorical) violent overthrow.
