The last days of 2023 also had a surprise for the Austrian baritone Christoph Filler: The Tyrolean Festival Erl urgently needed a stand-in for their production of Lehár’s “Der Graf von Luxemburg”. Mr. Filler, most recently performing some Bach cantatas with the Vienna Academy Orchestra under Martin Haselböck at the Wiener Musikverein, promptly began rehearsals as Basil Basilowitsch and will welcome the New Year in Erl with the orchestra and choir of the Tyrolean Festival Erl under Erik Nielsen.
