The German-Peruvian director and author Alexander Medem, who has long lived and worked in Vienna, presents his program for young audiences aged 6–10: Der Wunderkasten. He co-wrote the book for this tale from the rich trove of One Thousand and One Nights with Sophie Reyer and Salah Ammo; the songs, by Salah Ammo and Peter Gabis, are inspired by Arabic classical and folk music. Together they get the children to support the little qadi against the fearsome caliph—singing, clapping, and dancing along.
