At the Oper Köln, the 1968 production of Rossini’s “Il barbiere di Siviglia” by Ruth Berghaus which is truly legendary, in large part also because of Achim Freyer’s memorable stage design, will be revived. This summer, baritone Wolfgang Stefan Schwaiger plays the part of Figaro in this unique production that continues, in it’s own way, the traditions of the commedia dell’arte.
