Rossini specialist Matteo Macchioni’s Ramiro just received a rave review from Colin Davidson in the British Theatre Guide (“… Macchioni has a sweet, light tone, reminiscent of Juan Diego Flórez, and in act two he flies aerobatically through the difficult three-part recitative and aria to those frequent high Cs.“); at the Erl winter festival in Tyrol, the tenor can show off his Conte Alberto, with Berenice Sophie Gordeladze at his side, in “L’occasione fa il ladro”. The production also marks the debut of Patrick Hahn, an up-and-coming Austrian, as opera conductor.
