Rigid, even severe, rules to prevent the spread of Covid-19 characterised the rehearsals for Ástor Piazzolla’s tango operita “María de Buenos Aires” in Innsbruck, and of course the ever-present uncertainty when or perhaps whether this production, staged and choreographed by Enrique Gasa Valga and conducted by Tammaso Turchetta, might premiere. The waiting and the doubts are over: On May 19th, Julieta Anahi Frias whisks us away to the world of María de Buenos Aires, with Alexander Medem, actor and director of German and Peruvian extraction, at her side as Duende.
