Most recently, Sophie Rennert was celebrated in the title role of Handel’s Giulio Cesare in Egitto in the Nationaltheater Mannheim production at the Schlosstheater Schwetzingen. The Mannheimer Morgen, for instance, wrote: “Rennert had earlier already sung to die for; for virtuosic arias such as ‘Presti omai, l’Egizia terra’ she has a flawlessly beaded sixteenth-note technique; for ‘Dall’ondoso periglio’ or ‘aure, deh, per pietà’ she exudes beauty, soul, and intimacy; and her rapid diction in ‘Al lampo dell’armi’ is exemplary.”
She now appears as Gloria in Francesco B. Conti’s Il trionfo della fama with the Accademia Bizantina under Ottavio Dantone in Bucharest.
