Alongside her many recent operatic debuts—such as the title role in Carmen, Ruggiero in Handel’s Alcina, or Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni—Sophie Rennert has always devoted herself passionately to the art song repertoire. With pianist Joseph Middleton accompanying her, her recital at Pierre Boulez Saal offers pieces ranging from Schubert’s “An die Laute” to “Der Tod und das Mädchen”, and from Mahler’s “Frühlingsmorgen” to his Rückert Lieder.
