At the end of a very varied season, where mezzo-soprano Sophie Rennert debuted as Carmen, as Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, in the title role of Handel’s opera Alcina, and gave celebrated recitals at the Schubertiade and at the Pierre Boulez Hall in Berlin, another role debut now awaits her at the Nationaltheater Mannheim: At the Schlosstheater Schwetzingen – the main venue is currently closed for renovations – Ms. Rennert will sing the title role in Handel’s Giulio Cesare in Egitto, directed by Lucia Astigarraga and conducted by Paul Agnew.
At the end of the summer, Sophie Rennert returns to Schwarzenberg for the Schubertiade to give a recital with works by Schumann and Schubert, alongside baritone Ludwig Mittelhammer and pianist Joseph Middleton.
