Under the direction of Gottfried Rabl, Ensemble Kontrapunkte will once again present a concert series at the Vienna Musikverein during the 2026–27 season. The first concert of the new season features William Walton’s one-act opera The Bear preceded by a quintet by Heinrich Kaminski and an octet by Arnold Bax. Walton described the opera, which is based on a comedy by Anton Chekhov, as an “Extravaganza in One Act”. Its soloists are Sofia Vinnik (mezzo-soprano), Wolfgang Resch (baritone) and Matthias Hoffmann, bass.
