Première: Sophie Rennert as Phèdre in Rameau’s “Hippolite et Aricie” in Mannheim

Austrian mezzo Sophie Rennert had a stellar success as Angelina in Rossini’s “La Cenerentola” in Mannheim last year; now she returns tot he stage of the Nationaltheater Mannheim for Rameau’s “Hippolite et Aricie”, where she undertakes to play Phèdre in a production staged by Lorenzo Fioroni and conducted by Bernhard Forck.

While the rehearsals in Mannheim hit their stride, Ms Rennert will visit the Göttinger Handelfestspiele; intendent Tobias Wolff has invited her to the “Handel-Talk” in Bremer’s Weinkellerei, where she will chat about Handel and everything else – and offer a small, musical, appetizer for Handel’s “Serse”.
