Première: Anton Legkii conducts “Othello”, a ballet soirée, in Kaiserslautern

Solid craftsmanship, sure-footed musicality, and complete adaptability: all this and more is required of a Kapellmeister at a German theatre, and Kaiserslautern is no exception. Anton Legkii not only takes such demands in his stride but exceeds them. Following an operetta (Lehárs “Land des Lächelns”), a musical (“Tell me on a Sunday” by Andrew Lloyd-Webber), and a grand opera (Gounod’s “Faust”), he now is the musical director of “Othello”, a ballet soirée—choreographed by James Sutherland to music from Vivaldi via Corelli to Gorecki and Brian Eno, the work premières on March 2nd at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern.
