François-Xavier Roth and Calixto Bieito created the celebrated 2018 production of Bernd Alois Zimmermann’s opera “Die Soldaten” at the Oper Köln. For the current run of guest performances at the Köln Philharmonic, the Paris Philharmonic, and Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie, the production also has Austrian baritone Wolfgang Stefan Schwaiger reprise his role as Captain Mary.
