At the end of last season, Austrian bass Oliver Sailer was celebrated by audiences for his Don Quixotte in Massenet’s opera of the same name and received excellent reviews. The Neuer Merker, for instance, wrote: “Barely 30 years old, Oliver Sailer, who has been a member of the company since 2021 and has since been carefully developed, achieved an enormous success, vocal and dramatical both, with audiences and the press through his first leading role. His expressive bass voice, with its noble timbre and perfect French diction, is complemented by a truly knightly appearance.” His first roles of the new season will be Samuel and Count Ribbing in Verdi’s Ballo in maschera. The musical direction is by Stefan Tsilias, and the production is directed by Jasmina Hadžiahmetović.
