To inspire children’s enthusiasm for opera, almost all major institutions are now exploring a wide range of new approaches. At the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, Friedrich Kind and Kai Anne Schuhmacher developed a new, child-friendly version of Carl Maria von Weber’s opera Der Freischütz, encouraging children to take part. This production is now being revived for the third time, and Matthias Hoffmann will once again appear on stage as Kaspar.
