Katharina Ruckgaber has had an exceptionally exciting and successful year. It began with New Year’s concerts in Canada, continued with Musetta at the Komische Oper and Asteria in Handel’s Tamerlano under René Jacobs in concert halls such as the Berliner Philharmonie, the Palau in Barcelona and the Teatro Real in Madrid, and went on – just like last year – to great success as Ännchen in Der Freischütz at the Bregenz Festival. Then came an engagement as Zerlina at the Salzburger Landestheater. She now sings this role as a kind of crowning conclusion to the year at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen in Ghent and Antwerp, opposite Wolfgang Stefan Schwaiger as Don Giovanni.
