Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Austrian bass Christoph Seidl is busy. In March, he stepped in for Frate’s part in Verdi’s “Don Carlo” at the Aalto-Theater in Essen, on the shortest of notices; now, he is in the midst of his preparations for his role debut as Count Waldner in Richard Strauss’ “Arabella”, scheduled for May — and in-between, also at the Aalto-Theater, he sings the part of the Commendatore in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” under GMD Tomáš Netopil’s baton.
