The Tyrolean bass-baritone Matthias Hoffmann, now working freelance, is a guest performer in the new family opera at the Musiktheater an der Wien. In Oliver Knussen’s “Where the Wild Things Are”, based on Maurice Sendak’s bestselling book of the same name, Hoffmann takes on the role of Hahnkerl under the direction of Nikolaus Habjan and the musical direction of Stephan Zilias. The work is shown in German, under the title of “Wo die wilden Kerle wohnen”.
