Sophie Rennert certainly is anything but idle. The mezzo-soprano has just recorded two albums, Ferrandini’s “Il Pianto di Maria” and Vivaldi’s “Serenata A Tre” and presented two lied recitals at the Schubertiade — an evening of quartets and a solo recital.
Next up are the Salzburger Festspiele and their production of “The Magic Flute”, staged by Lydia Steier, in which Ms. Rennert will sing the part of the Second Lady under the musical direction of Joana Mallwitz.
And because all this still is not enough, the mezzo-soprano returns to Innsbruck and its Early Music Festival in August: At the Festwochen der Alten Musik, with Claudio Osele conducting Le Musiche Nove, Sophie Rennert will present a varied programme with works by George Frideric Handel and others. A busy summer, indeed!
