A multi-faceted jewel: Sophie Rennert sparkles!

At long last, Sophie Rennert is travelling to Berne for a much-delayed concert with the Freitagsakademie under Katharina Suske; she then stops in Styria, where she grew up, to sing in Handel’s “Dixit Dominus” and Vivaldi’s “Magnificat“, Jordi Savall conducting, at the Styriarte festival. Still in July, the Nationaltheater Mannheim welcomes Mr. Rennert back for two performances in Rameau’s “Hyppolite und Aricie” (conductor: Bernhard Forck)

The month of August sees the Early Music Festival Innsbruck come back after its Covid-19-related hiatus, and Ms. Rennert is—of course!—coming along. For his programme “Bruderzwist und weiser König” (“fraternal strife and a sage king”), artistic director Alessandro de Marchi has selected ”Caino e Abele”, a high-baroque oratorio by Bernardo Pasquini, and Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s ”Judicium Salomonis” which reminds us of the oratorio’s beginnings with Charpentier’s teacher Giacomo Carissimi and the Roman School.

Sophie Rennert’s summers would seem incomplete without her appearance at the Schubertiade, which is also back after the 2020 cancellation; she joins her fellow artists at an ensemble lied recital and is accompanied by pianist Joseph Middleton for a solo recital of works by Schubert and Mahler.
