Dominik Köninger and Siyabonga Maqungo revive music by Graun and Reichardt, kapellmeisters to the Prussian court

A short break in the rehearsals for Britten’s “Billy Budd” at the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen takes baritone Dominik Köninger to the Berlin Philharmonic for a concert with the Akademie für Alte Musik under Stefan Schuck. He joins tenor Siyabonga Maqungo to revive, for the first time in centuries, some of the sacral music written by baroque composers and kapellmeisters Carl Heinrich Graun and Johann Friedrich Reichardt and only now dug up by Stefan Schuck, head of the Vokalensemble sirventes Berlin.
