Spanish composer Vicente Martín y Soler was long forgotten despite having exceeded even Mozart in popularity. It seems due and overdue that the Wiener Kammeroper, one of the venues of the Musiktheater an der Wien, is staging “L’arbore di Diana”, with baritone Christoph Filler as Doristo. The libretto, incidentally, was written by Lorenzo Da Ponte – the same Da Ponte who wrote three famous libretti for Mozart, among many others.
