In 1908, the Imperial-Royal Court-Opera, today’s Wiener Staatsoper, premièred the last of Karl Goldmark’s six operas: “The Winter’s Tale”, based on William Shakespeare’s play of the same name.
More than a century later, the Wexford Festival continues its wonderful tradition of performing forgotten masterpieces masterworks. In the festival’s current production, Georgian soprano Sophie Gordeladze sings Hermione’s part, opposite the Leontes of Burkhard Fritz, under conductor Markus Bosch.
