After an excursion into the world of the French lied at the May Festival in Wiesbaden, the Franco-Canadian mezzo-soprano Nora Sourouzian remains faithful to French music. At Graz Opera, Jacques Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann is being revived — a production in which each act of what is perhaps the most famous of all unfinished operas was staged by a different directing team. This time, Nora Sourouzian takes on the role of the courtesan Giulietta as well as the Voice of the Mother in the Antonia act.
