In the new production of Verdi’s La traviata, the Hessian State Theatre Wiesbaden fields two casts from its own ensemble—with many role debuts, including Katleho Mokhoabane as Alfredo Germont and Sascha Zarrabi as Gastone. Tom Goossens directs in a co-production with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen; the musical direction is by the theatre’s General Music Director, Leo McFall.
Katleho Mokhoabane can also be heard together with Sarah Yang—who also appears with him as Violetta Valery—in a lied recital in the theatre foyer.
