The range of roles could hardly be more varied, yet Sophie Rennert transitions between them with unparalleled aplomb: Following Bizet’s Carmen and Ruggiero in Handel’s Alcina, February will see the Austrian mezzo-soprano in further performances as Prince Orlofsky in Johann Strauss’ Die Fledermaus at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich. This production is directed by State Intendant Josef E. Köpplinger while Michael Brandstätter is at the podium.
