This coming June offers Wolfgang Resch yet another opportunity to demonstrate the breadth of his repertoire: His widely lauded interpretation of Cindor in Rameau’s “Zaïs”, which is slated for a mid-June première in Solothurn, prompted Jan Krobot to comment in the Online-Merker: “Once again, TOBS has succeeded in assembling an ensemble of the best … Wolfgang Resch’s Cindor, Zaïs’s confidant, is on par with [Zaïs].”
After the series of opera performances, the Austrian baritone shifts gears and sings in Kurt Weill’s and Bertolt Brecht’s “Mahagonny—ein Songspiel”; this initial form, basis for the “Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny”, is brought to the stage of the Viennese club Porgy & Bess by director Bruno Berger-Gorski and conductor Anna Sushon.
