During his current rehearsals, baritone Wolfgang Resch commutes not only over considerable distances between Bielefeld in northern Germany and Selzach in Switzerland but also crosses many centuries of musical styles and genres: In Bielefeld, the final performances of the impressive and moving contemporary opera “The Convert” by Wim Henderickx, who passed away a year and a half ago at the age of sixty, are still running, while in the Summer Opera Selzach, Georges Bizet’s opera “Carmen” is already being rehearsed, with Wolfgang Resch in the role of Le Dancaïre, a smuggler. The production is staged by Maria Riccarda Wesseling, with musical direction by Kaspar Zehnder.
