After multiple delays and postponements, by now regrettably usual if not expected, Bernhard Lang’s opera ”Hiob”, with a libretto by Michael Sturminger based on Joseph Roth’s novel, finally sees its world première at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt. Countertenor Thomas Lichtenecker plays the youngest son of Job who in this transposition of the biblical source into our times is named Mendel Singer.
