Thomas Lichtenecker at the Wiener Kammeroper and at Haydn’s birthplace

Pursuant to his overwhelming successes in Benjamin Britten’s “Death in Venice” and Christian Kolonovits’ musical “Vivaldi”, Austrian counter-tenor Thomas Lichtenecker now takes up the role of Mostro in Francesca Caccini’s “La liberazione di Ruggiero dall’isola d’Alcina”, the first production of the new management of the Musiktheater an der Wien.

At Haydn’s birthplace in RohrauMr Lichtenecker and pianist Dominik Wilgenbus present “Die neuen Geheimnisse des Joseph Haydn” (“The new secrets of Joseph Haydn”); they follow the trail of a rather unusual artistic relationship, fifty years of it, that began with Haydn’s escape from the knife used to maintain choirboys’ voices, if you get our drift.
