Twice already his debut at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, as Tamino and as Narraboth, had to be canceled because of—what else!—Covid-19. But as the saying goes, the third time is the charm: Just in time before the close of the season, young South African tenor Siyabonga Maqungo mounts the stage as Trin in Giacomo Puccini’s “La Fanciulla del West”, a new production created by Lydia Steier and conductor Antonio Pappano.
