John Milton was and is without doubt one of the greatest English poets of all time, and his masterpiece is the epic poem “Paradise Lost”. In more than ten thousand lines of blank verse it recounts the epic casting out of Lucifer and his followers, and the equally epic knowing acceptance, by Adam, of Eve’s sin, making him both the greater sinner and the hero who will share his companion’s fate come what may.
This is the fertile basis upon which the members of German prog-rock band Vanden Plas and Johannes Reitmeier have created their rock opera “Last Paradise Lost” in which young Austrian Bass Oliver Sailer — currently, also in Innsbruck, on stage as Don Alfonso in Mozart’s “Così fan tutte” — imbues Abbadon, one of Hell’s creatures, with life.
