Jeff Gwaltney, the American heldentenor, celebrates his first Germen engagement: He acts the part of the Royal Kapellmeister Wilhelm in Korngold’s “Der Ring des Polykrates” at the Theater Freiburg. Gwaltney has already won over critics and audiences at the Royal Albert Hall as Pinkerton, at the Holland park Opera as Dick Johnson in “La Fanciulla del West”, and at the Sottish Opera as Erik in “The Flying Dutchman”, to name but a few. “Der Ring des Polykrates”, a one-act work, will be presented along with selectes lieder and orchestral works by Korngold.
