Première: Maximilian Mayer, Ilia Staple und Christoph Filler in “Der junge Lord” at the Gärtnerplatztheater

The creator’s vehicle to expose typical petty bourgeois actions and attitudes, “Der junge Lord” was the sixth work to flow from the joint and fertile pens of Ingeborg Bachmann and Hans Werner Henze. Tenor Maximilian Mayer, recently seen (and, better yet, heard!) as Tamino and as Gigi Tourguide (“Momo”, music by Wilfried Hiller), takes centre-stage as the young Lord Barrat in this production by Brigitte Fassbaender. At his side, Christoph Filler plays the secretary to the “old Lord” Sir Edgar, while Ilia Staplesings the part of Ida.
