Young Tyrolean bass Oliver Sailer, who attracted attention last season as Gremin in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, among other roles, opens the new season with Richard Strauss: as Truffaldin, a member of the commedia dell’arte troupe introduced in Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos as a counterworld to the “serious” opera about Ariadne.
