New production: “Rigoletto” at the Bregenzer Festspiele, with Wolfgang Stefan Schwaiger als Marullo

Baritone Wolfgang Stefan Schwaiger, member of the ensemble of the Oper Köln, recently collected a sizeable bunch of laurels as Giove in Cavalli’s “La Calisto” at the Teatro Real in Madrid, but summers draw him to pleasant lakeshores: After his Don Giovanni three years ago and his Morales in “Carmen” last year and the year before, he is now returning to the Bregenzer Festspiele, for the fourth summer in a row. This time he is cast as Marullo in Verdi’s “Rigoletto”, and when he is not busy on the truly impressive main stage, he sings Ravel’s songs for baritone and orchestra “Don Quichotte à Dulcinée” with the Symphony Orchestra Vorarlberg under Ariane Mathiakh’s baton.
