Having stepped in at short notice as Ännchen in Der Freischütz two years ago, German soprano Katharina Ruckgaber was invited by René Jacobs to take on the role of Asteria in Handel’s Tamerlano, HWV 18. The concert tour with the Freiburger Barockorchester begins in Freiburg and continues via the Berlin Philharmonic, the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, and the Teatro Real in Madrid to the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia.
